Have you been here before? You have been working on a really sensitive project at work and your not very comfortable storing the files on your work server even although there is file security in place. The information is just too sensitive to risk anybody accessing it and your manager has also instructed you to save it to a external disk and nowhere else.

You arrive at work the next morning to begin work the critical file is missing along with several other related files. This sort of behaviour can manifest itself if your hard disk is degrading maybe due to heat or even because of its age. Sometimes IT departments will use older hard drives and put them into caddies to use as external storage, which on the face of things is a great idea. Problem is though the drive is still old and caddies don’t always have the best airflow so the combination of an older drive and the hotter conditions van cause drive degradation.

Don’t worry though as the files are more than likely still intact. Simply avoid writing any further files to the disk and contact your local data recovery company who will be experienced in recovering data from degraded drives.

For hard disk recovery in Manchester give us a call

I guess we have all been there at one stage or another. You have been working on a very important project, critical business proposition or even spent days and sometimes weeks writing an academic paper and all of a sudden your file is nowhere to be found and panic sets in.

You check your deleted files with no luck and do a full search on your computer but the file or folder has for some bizzare reason simply vanished. In all probability the file is still on your hard disk somewhere but simply cannot be found which may be the first signs of a degraded drive.

We can in all probabilty recover a deleted file or a lost file provided you have not overwritten the sector with additional data, so if the file is really important try not to write anything else to the drive. Also avoid at all costs the temptation to use data recovery software for important files.

Call us now to solve your file recovery problem.

When you are dealing with an unexpected data loss of within a company the effect and severity of the data loss will of course depend on a number of factors, these being which system has failed, what data has been lost, how many employees are accessing the data on a hourly basis.

If the business has had the forethought to put a disaster recovery plan in place then this can be quickly be implemented to get your business into action but if you do not have one, or have completed you business continuity plan but have simply not implemented yet then the effect of the data loss can be quite far reaching.

The net effect of a data loss emergency can simply cost thousands and for large corporations tens and sometimes hundreds of thousands. The actual cost will course depend on the type of business involved and costs can be both tangible or intangible for example: the cost of lost sales can be easily measured by comparing a previous days trading.

As well as the tangible costs intangible costs also need to be considered which could include the loss of potential clients or business credibility, the management overhead needed to get the business back on line again and the cost of manual data entry from paper records (if they are held) to populate the database once it has been restored or the server has been re-built.

Another critical factor that should never be overlooked in the event of a data emergency is the restoration of the data. In many cases data can be irrecovably lost due to bungled attempts at recovery by inexperienced IT technicians.

If you have suffered from a data emergency and need disaster recovery or raid data recovery in Manchester give us a call

All electronic devices do need a clean from time to time to clean out the accumulation of fluff that devices just can’t seem to avoid attracting, but should you stick the memory devices in the washing machine for a 40 degree spin cycle!?

Well maybe not, as we all know electronics and water do not mix – however accidents can and do happen. Due to their diminutive size USB Memory Sticks can be left in pockets of clothing that may accidentally make its way into the wash basket.

Needless to say, devices that have been unfortunate enough to experience a wash cycle rarely come out of the other end unscathed.

Flash Data Recovery by VenSys Ltd are now able to recover lost data from USB Memory sticks that have been washed – regardless of the brand of washing powder used, liquitabs and drawer tablet recovery is also available.

If you have washed or submerged your memory stick or card give us a call as soon as possible to ensure the best chance of data retrieval

VenSys Limited have proved that microwaving a USB memory stick doesn’t mean the device is unrecoverable. One day we received two devices that were left in a microwave by a customer as an anti theft measure. The sticks were left separate to the company laptop to ensure that even if the laptop was stolen the data on the sticks wouldn’t be taken with it.

Not a bad idea as a security precaution BUT

Disaster struck, when the customers partner came down in the morning and turned on the microwave to heat up the morning bottle for the baby. The very last thing you would expect is to have electronic equipment in an oven and subsequently the drives got “cooked ” as well

One of the devices was a Kingston Data Traveler device with a plastic outer casing and despite melting of the plastic around the internal board and the chip appearing to sustain a slight level of damage the device was recovered.

VenSys have yet again proved that regardless of what happens Flash and other portable storage media are nearly always recoverable. VenSys Ltd recently received a water damaged USB memory stick that had been placed into a shirt pocket and forgotten. Subsequently it was washed and with the device appearing completely dead, when inserted into a USB port, the owner feared he had lost his part completed book (which was on the device) forever.

We assured him that, despite appearances, the device could be recovered by the use of exclusive technology - which proved to be the case. The recovery involved a read of the data chip rather than attempting any repairs to the board – which was rendered useless after it’s trip inside the washing machine.
